8.  Bandura and National Musical Instruments Centre

Location:  village of Buzova, 30 km west from Kyiv (on the Zhytomyr Highway, Kyiv oblast)
Purpose:  To revive the almost lost art of bandura manufacturing and of other Ukrainian national musical instruments as part of the curriculum of the Chaikovskyi National Music Academy (known as the Kyiv Conservatory).  The bandura is a very revered Ukrainian national instrument which, during the soviet years, was associated with Ukrainian national revival, and therefore its popularization was actively discouraged.  It has about 60 strings which produce a very special sound similar to the harp.  There are many variations of the bandura.  In modern times, the banduras were identified according to the city they originated from – the Kharkivska bandura, the Chernihivska bandura, and the Lvivska bandura.  The Kharkivska bandura almost disappeared when in the 1930’s the Russians killed almost all of the 300 bandura players at a nationwide conference they lured them into.
Since 1991 the Chernihiv and Lviv musical instruments factories have either ceased to fabricate Ukrainian national instruments or have significantly scaled down their production.  Today, to purchase or repair a bandura has become a real problem.  Adults and children willing to learn to play the bandura face the difficult reality of not being able to buy a quality instrument at an affordable price.
In the past 25 years many of the experts who knew how to make a bandura passed away without having been able to teach this trade to the younger generation.  Some people still have the skills but they cannot produce banduras or repair them on a large scale.  The demand is there but the supply is inadequate.
The center will be a smoke free, alcohol free, drugs free, and arrogance free area.
Description of the land plot:  Three bare land plots of 0.15 hectare each (45 ares or 4,500m2) are available in the village of Buzova.  The land plots are located two km off the main Zhytomyr Highway.  A well must be dug, a metal fence installed, and electricity connected.
Planned construction:  It is envisaged to construct a two-story building (500m2) to accommodate students who will be learning the art of bandura making.  There will be rooms for designing the bandura and other instruments, carving, cutting, sanding, painting, drying and displaying the finished work of art for sales purposes.  There will be also a storage room for materials and equipment needed for constructing the instruments.  The rooms will have to be functional, well aerated and spacious to allow free movement around the work tables.  Basic amenities such as washrooms, showers and a kitchen will be built.
This building should also be like a small cultural center whereby people will be able to come and learn about the intricacies of the bandura.
Self-financing:  to ensure self-financing of this bandura center, publicity will be made to invite tourists to visit the center for a fee to observe the manufacturing process, by organizing bandura classes for beginners, and concerts and festivals for bandura players.  Small souvenir banduras will also be manufactured and sold to tourists.
Financial assistance needed:  5,000 USD for the building documentation; 45,000 USD (or less) to purchase the 0.45 ha (three land plots); 22,000 USD to purchase two land plots for permaculture; 20,500 USD to dig the well, fence the property, connect the electricity to the building; 250,000 USD to construct the building, 24,000 USD for administrative costs; and 20,000 USD for a used multi van.
Total cost of the “Bandura and National Musical Instruments Centre” project:  386,500 USD

9.  Junior Academy of Science Academic Training Center

Location:  Hamarnyka Street, Pushcha Vodytsia district, 15 km north from metro Akadem-Mistechko (on the Circle Road).
Purpose:  The Junior Academy of Science (JAS) encourages young students to pursue research in the humanities and scientific domains.  These young researchers have brought fame to JAS over the years by their unique discoveries and inventions.  JAS is encouraging students to take part in national and international competitions.  JAS is present in all the oblasts of Ukraine and despite the lack of equipment and facilities conducive to entice youngsters to do research work, the students overcome obstacles and obtain amazing results which become the talk of the international scientific world.  JAS needs facilities to help students who won competitions due to their outstanding results, to further pursue their research.
The center will be a smoke free, alcohol free, drugs free, and arrogance free area.
Description of the land plot:  Almost three hectares of land (300 ares or 30,000m2) have been given to JAS in the resort area of Pushcha Vodytsia.  The land plot is located at the beginning of the street Hamarnyka.  It has many buildings which are in a very bad shape.  These buildings in the 1950’s belonged to a children sanatorium.  The premises lately were transferred to JAS.
Planned construction:  Many of the buildings must be totally reconstructed, and new ones built to accommodate students and their teachers.  Due to the lack of funds from the public and private sectors, the reconstruction project cannot be started.  The project documentation requires substantial funding in the approximate amount of 500,000 USD.  The construction of the buildings and infrastructure could well amount to 10,000,000 USD.
Self-financing:  Once the JAS Academic Training Center will have been set up, and since it is accountable to the Ministry of Education, the government of Ukraine should be devoting part of its budgetary expenditures for the upkeep of JAS and its facilities.
Financial assistance needed:  500,000 USD for the building documentation; 10,000,000 USD for the construction of the buildings and infrastructure; 300,000 USD for administrative costs for 5 years; and 20,000 USD for a used multi van.
Total cost of the “Junior Academy of Science Academic Training Centre” project:  10,820,000 USD.

10.  Book translation (“Moskovstvo” by Pavlo Shtepa)

Location:  The coordination of the translation will be done from Kyiv, Ukraine.  Translators will be located worldwide including Ukraine.
Purpose:  The idea of this project was born in 2014 during the Maidan to counter the disinformation war Moscow has unleashed against Ukraine and the whole world.  The ideal would be to have the book “Moskovstvo” by Pavlo Shtepa translated into forty languages of the world.  This book and other ones similar in content, are banned in Russia because it is a compendium information that unveils the true nature of this country who tries, for many centuries, to conceal the historical truth from the world by bribing the mass media, politicians and academic staff.  There are other books and scholarly articles whose content must be made known to the world in order to demystify Russia, but “Moskovstvo” by Pavlo Shtepa is the first step in this translation project.  Please note that this book has already been translated into Russian in 1996.
Description of the project:  The search for professional translators started in 2014 and continues.  The translation of the book started in 2015.  One third of the book has already been translated into Turkish.  The Turkish translation will continue as soon as funding will resume.  As soon as funding will become available, translations could begin in the Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish languages.
Professional translators also need to be found for the following languages:  Arabic, Armenian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Belarusian, Bengali, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, Georgian, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Kazakh, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Norwegian, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Swedish, Tamil, and Urdu.
Research is being made to identify translators for these languages:  Albanian, Azerbaijani, Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Indonesian, Icelandic, Kirghiz, Kurdish, Lao, Maltese, Moldovan, Mongolian, Pashto, Tagalog, Tibetan, and Uzbek.
It is important that these languages be covered to ensure that the information about Russia and its wrongdoings be known to world leaders, the mass media and the academic world in order to prevent further Russian expansion.
Other books to be translated are:  “Krayina Moksel” (in three volumes) by Volodymyr Bilinskyi; “Rassieya protiv Rusi, Rus protiv Rassieyi” by Pietr Khomiakov (in 2015 he was killed in a russian prison by the KGB); and a compendium of articles which appeared in the newspaper “Den”.
Planned development of the translation project:  .Contracts will be signed with the translators, editors, page makers.  For a book of 500 pages, 20,000 USD are needed to cover author’s rights, translation, proofreading, editing and preparation for printing.
Self-financing:  Unless a publisher accepts to fund the translation project in one of the languages, it is difficult to envisage self-financing.  The project can only be implemented based on donations.
Financial assistance needed:  20,000 USD per book per language.
Total cost of the “Book Translation – “Moskovstvo” by Pavlo Shtepa” project in 12 languages:  240,000 USD.  For the next 28 languages:  560,000 USD.  For a grand total of:  800,000 USD.

11.   Ukrainians’ Priceless Gifts to the World (12 series documentary film)

Location:  The coordination of the documentary film will be done from Kyiv, Ukraine.
Purpose:   This documentary film project is important because it will provide Ukrainians and the world with information about the contributions Ukrainians made to the world in all domains.  This information is not readily available because during the soviet era any mention of discoveries or inventions by Ukrainians were hushed, and the latter were either presented as citizens of other countries or totally ignored to prevent a rise in the pride of Ukrainians for their country and its achievements.  Even today such information is not accessible even in Ukraine because of the anti-Ukrainian propaganda unfolded by Moscow to denigrate everything Ukrainian.  It is not uncommon to hear people say that the Ukrainian language does not exist, that Ukrainian music is not popular, that Ukrainians are not a nation, etc.  Such baseless declarations have for effect to develop a complex of inferiority among the population and to distort the historical facts which constitute the base for national pride of any country.  The planned documentary film will not only counter this anti-Ukrainian propaganda but also it will enrich and update the sources of information about Ukraine.
Description of the project:  The project consists in a series of 12 documentary films of 24 minutes each depicting little known facts, heroes, discoveries, inventions made by Ukrainians in Ukraine or in other countries where they lived or worked.
Planned development of the film project:  Scenarios will be written and submitted for discussion and approval.  Monitoring, follow-up and distribution of the films will be handled by a committee composed of historians, writers, filmmakers and other consultants.
Self-financing:  Unless TV stations will accept to purchase the films, it is difficult to envisage self-financing.  The project can only be implemented based on donations.  However, after these series will be aired and contracts signed, the generated income could be used to finance other educational films, or be used to reimburse the 46,720 USD received for this project.
Financial assistance needed:  42,720 USD for 12 series (or 3,560 USD per serie); and 4,000 USD for administrative costs.
Total cost of the “Ukrainians’ Priceless Gifts to the World” project:  46,720 USD for the 12 series.

12.  Vynnytsia Children Alternative Education Center

Location:  City of Vynnytsia (Vynnytsia oblast)
Purpose:  The creation of such a children center is critical for the social, emotional and intellectual development of children who nowadays are glued to the TV and iPads.  Since the state does not provide funding for various extracurricular activities, children end up on the street experiencing alcohol, smoking, drugs, foul language and other negative influences.  The children center will provide the children from the age of three a learning environment ranging from sports, visual arts, arts and crafts, weaving, wood carving, gardening, music, dancing, to pottery, wood working and even metal working.  Children will be given the opportunity to discover their likes from an early age and chose their favorite activities at their own rate of development.  This will ensure that the children will be brought up based on integrity, respect, love of work and learning, and readiness to do good around themselves.  The center will be a smoke free, alcohol free, drugs free, and arrogance free area.
Description of the land plot:  Very few existing buildings in the city of Vynnytsia can be adapted to such activities.  To build such a center would require one hectare of land on which could be built several buildings to accommodate the children and their parents.  Pottery, wood working, metal working all require separate locations.  Dancing and sport activities requires spacious rooms, weaving and painting ventilated areas, etc.  Therefore the main building and other smaller buildings must be designed to render possible various types of activities.
Planned construction:  It is planned to construct a two-story building (1,000m2) to accommodate 200 people or more.  There will be rooms, kitchen facilities, dining room and a dormitory for the children for napping time.
Basic furniture will be bought for the building (bunk beds, tables, chairs and benches; kitchen appliances, bathroom equipment, washing machines).  Nothing superfluous.
Self-financing:  to ensure self-financing of this children center, art and music festivals, community activities, fundraising activities will be organized in addition to the fees that will be charged for hall rentals and other services that will be provided by the center.
Financial assistance needed:  5,000 USD for the building documentation; 120,000 USD (or less) to purchase one hectare of land, 25,500 USD to dig a well, fence the property, connect the electricity to the building; 500,000 USD to construct the building; 24,000 USD for administrative costs; and 20,000 USD for a used multi van.
Total cost of the “Vynnytsia Children Center” project:  694,500 USD
